
Are you the next Leadership Carson Graduate?
The goal of Leadership Carson is to develop the next generation of active leaders for Carson. Decision-makers of local businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations, schools, and universities participate in a 7 month program devoted to key regional issues at locations throughout Carson. Graduates of Leadership Carson go on to contribute to Carson’s economic and cultural vitality.
Selected leaders participate in 7 half-day sessions and graduation, which include:
- Leadership Development – focuses on the goals of Leadership. The class is led by a trained facilitator and includes activities and discussions on leadership skills and development.
- Government – focuses on the governance structure of the city, county, and state. The class learns about the diversity of operations and the challenges and opportunities in participating in the civic process.
- Public Safety – focuses on the roles of city police and fire departments in responding to service calls and emergencies. Learn how these highly trained professionals protect life and property.
- Volunteerism – representatives from various community services and non-profit organizations explain the contributions that such groups make to improve the quality of life in the community.
- History– participants visit the historic Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum and learn about Carson’s history as a city, and it’s part in the development of the South Bay.
- Economic Development – This session focuses on increasing participants’ knowledge about the variety of businesses that comprise Carson’s economic base and efforts to develop new industries in the City.
- Energy Production – Carson has long been a hub for energy production, participants will visit a traditional energy production plant as well as innovative new technologies.
- Graduation – Friends, family, colleagues and past graduates join in the celebration!
Only 15 spots are available. The cost to participate is $750 per person, which includes course materials and breakfast and/or lunch. Participants are required to complete an application and when appropriate it must be signed by the participant’s employer. Each participant is expected to attend every session, only one absence will be permitted. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion. Scholarships are available.
This is a tentative agenda, subject to change. The seven informative classes meet in different locations each month and feature the general topics listed above. Subject matter experts lead the sessions. The order of sessions may vary depending on the availability of speakers and venues.
Classes scheduled to begin October 2025, and will occur on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
